What is botulinum toxin used for?

Botulinum toxin, better known as Botox®, is an injection product which  helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines at rest without preventing muscle contraction  : the result will therefore be judged mainly on the appearance of the wrinkles. at rest.

Are there any contraindications?

As a precautionary measure, botulinum toxin injections will not be given to pregnant or breastfeeding women. There are contraindications to botulinum toxin injection that the doctor will look for before any treatment. This includes inflammation at the injection site, a personal or family history of progressive muscular diseases (eyelid muscle spasms, myopathies, dermatopolymyositis, fibromyalgia, etc.), recent eye surgery (cornea). Also take into account certain drug interferences.

After the injection

The effects of the treatment begin to appear in 3 days and are visible at most on the 15th day.

If the muscles are not blocked correctly, it is wise to do a small touch-up on the 15th day if necessary.

The effects of the toxin last 3 to 6 months. The injections must therefore be repeated.
